Theodor was born in the Jewish quarter of Pest, Kingdom of Hungary to a Neolong Jewish family. His father’s family migrated from Zimony to Bohemia in 1739. Theodor died of cardiac sclerosis before Israel’s establishment. After Herzl’s death, his son Hans became a Baptist and then a Catholic.
